| Gotta love the 'live help' that some website offer for their products...Here is how my conversation with a "Nook Specialist" went: - Quote :
- Secure Connection
You are now connected with Lucy Jones from BN.com
Clover: How do you make the nook view PDF files as the scanned image/text? I don't want it to try to translate it into text for me, because it gets jumbled up.
Lucy Jones: Hi Hali, thanks for joining the Barnes & Noble Chat. I am Lucy. (not sure how she got my name, cause I put 'clover' for my name....)
Clover: hello
Clover: So I have some text books with japanese writing in them
Clover: they are scanned as pdf files
Clover: and when i open the pdf files on my nook
Clover: it looks like jibberish in many places
Clover: i'd rather the pages just be like a scanned image
Clover: is there a way to change that?
Lucy Jones: Please delete the copy and try to redownload it.
Clover: i have tried that before
Clover: is there any other setting i could change?
Lucy Jones: No, did you get any error message?
Clover: no...
Clover: the file opens
Clover: and some of it looks just fine
Clover: but other parts of it didn't translate wel
Clover: well*
Lucy Jones: Are you sure it is in PDF? (kill me now XD)
Clover: : yes
Clover: it just seems like the nook is trying to read the text, but it can't do the japanese
Clover: i'd rather have it just display the scan/image file
Lucy Jones: Did you try a different converter?
Clover: like what?
Lucy Jones: Like Caliber?
Clover: I don't know what that is.
Clover: Do you have a link or anything I could look at?
Clover: is it calibre? or caliber
Lucy Jones: Please visit the below link.
Lucy Jones: http://calibre-ebook.com/
Clover: Okay, I'll check it out. thank you
Clover: I have to go now.
Lucy Jones: You're welcome! Meh. Kinda sad, but at least I have a site to check out. I don't know if they quite understood my problem, but hey maybe I didn't explain it well either...oh well. | |

| Dude I love live support, Its completely terrible. I had to chat with like 4 different people to get a new debit card from bank of america. One guy just told me to just try again tomorrow, I'm guessing he didn't want to deal with it.
At least its better than dealing with people on the phone. I had to at least talk to 10 different people to get my stolen money issue sorted out.
